Today, my father-in-law called me an idiot for buying him coffee cake because he can't have caffeine. He refuses to believe that there's as much coffee in coffee cake as there is ham in a hamburger. FML

There is difference between a coffee cake that you eat while drinking coffee and an actual coffee cake that contains caffeine. Your fault OP.

Actually most shop bought coffee cake does contain coffee rather than coffee extract as it's cheaper to make that way...

depends on the recipe, there's coffee in three of the recipes my friends use but not in others, you've got to be careful
