Today, my friend told me that Otter Box phone cases protect the phone whether it's thrown or just dropped. I disagreed. He then threw his phone across the room into a cement wall to prove it. The phone's screen was completely shattered and now he thinks I owe him a new phone. FML

Today, I was showing my new iPhone case to my friends, saying how it was scratchproof, shockproof, and waterproof. I demonstrated it by dropping it on the sidewalk from about 5 feet. It bounced onto the road. Apparently, its not truck-proof. FML

Today, my brother got mad at me for breaking the screen on his phone. He'd already dropped it so many times that the whole screen was cracked to the point that you couldn't see anything on it, but for some reason, I am fully responsible for its destruction because I accidentally delivered the finishing blow. FML

Today, at a family gathering, I gave my toddler my phone to get a moment of peace. After assuring my nosy, judgemental aunt and cousin that I wasn't worried about it because I have dropped it myself numerous times over the last two years, and I trusted the OtterBox phone case it was in, my son dropped and broke it. FML

Today, my fancy rubber phone case did its job and saved my phone from damage when I dropped it on the bathroom counter. Unfortunately, it was rather useless after the massive bounce it took before landing in the toilet. FML

You don't owe him anything but you could suggest just getting the screen fixed. Sure it's about $100 but it's better then buying a new phone.

OP you don't owe him anything! It would be nice to know what kind of phone & what model of OtterBox? I "Love" OtterBox products, and have Them protecting all my Apple/Mac products! iPhone, iPad, IPod ...... I am fussy though because I will only use the "Armored Case" for my phone and I know that the OtterBox Armored Case is not sold anymore, but it is the only cell phone case by OtterBox that is truly, water proof (6' of water for 1 hr proven), dust resistant (as long as you keep all the ports closed when in dusty situations), drop proof ( 4 stories high dropped onto a cement pad & was perfectly fine) crushing resistant ( ran over by a forklift at work in the building) Non of these tests were purposefully done, but were all cell phone accidents at work.... I am glad the report that because of OtterBox "Armored" Case quick action every time! My Cell Phone lives on for another month of hard work totally undamaged!
