Today, my friends and I went to court. We are all college students, and for next semester, we will be on probation and have to do 8 hours of community service, as well as a $25 fine each. All for swinging on swings in the park after dark. FML
I agree, your life sucks 40 316
You deserved it 4 886

inner5yearold tells us more.

all the people saying that we were doing drugs or other illegal activities, we werent. we were just college students who had a lot of stress, and wanted to relax by acting like five year olds in the park, swinging on swings, playing on the see-saw, going down slides, monkey bars etcetera. we did not know the park closed after dark, there were no signs by the entrances, and there were no gates. anyone can walk in there at any time of day, and they would not know. the weathered sign, we found it the next day, and it was at the back of the park, no where near any lights or anything. we were just chilling there because we didnt want to go back to our rooms because of annoying roommates. there was even an overhead light shining into the park, giving the impression that it was open after dark. the police didnt even ask if we were doing anything illegal, or asked to see what was in our pockets or anything. two of us didnt even have any ID because we didnt want to lose it on the swings. new ro police are entirely retarded. period.

fail of society. sue the court. tht ruling is unconstitutional

this is what I have to say about this FML: first of all, you were breaking the law by being in a park after dark. It doesn't matter if there were signs, as a citizen you should know the laws. There's not signs all around telling you not to murder someone. Even if you think that the law was stupid, you did the crime now you do the time. You weren't punished as bad as you would be if you were dealing drugs or raping someone, but you were punished fairly according to your crime. secondly, those laws are there for a very good reason. In this one episode of Police Women of Maricopa County, Deputy Duong goes past a park full of gang members defacing property. She made sure that the mess was cleaned up. This park was open at the time, but it was made up for by the police being around. If whereever you live decided to just close the park so the police wouldn't have to worry as much, that is your choice. Community service and a $25 fine aren't that bad.

that's so stupid glad I'm Canadian our parks don't close lol

u can't swing after dark b/c of the ppl around them it's so they can sleep and not be woken up by noise not because of "shadyness"

hey... that happened to me too.

wow. that's pretty unnecessary IMO. I pulled into a park after close to talk on the phone and a cop came out of no where and told me that I needed to move. probably was nice about it cause I pulled over to talk on my phone.

8 hours isn't that much... neither is $25...

The last sentence sounds like an amoture rap song. Hahaha. But anyways. FYL. Stupid ass laws these days.
