Read above dogs protect instinctively most the time... All the dogs I've had would have torn that guy apart, and the most training they ever got was tug of war.

YDI for relying on a dog for self protection. Carry a gun or at least get some pepper spray. Take your safety into your own hands instead of expecting an animal to do it for you.
