So does he have the same pet name for both of you, or did he put the wrong one on the ring because of a mix up at the engravers? Because in my head right now, I'm picturing that the cat's new collar tag says "my love" and your ring says "fluffykins".

is the pet name for the cat very..idk feline-y or animal-y? Like fluffy or kitty or something like that. Or is it something that could readily apply to people like dear or precious or beautiful or something of that ilk? If it is something "species neutral" than maybe he used that engraving because it is his go-to term endearment for the things he loves. or/and maybe it his way of welcoming you into his family? I mean.. if it is clearly an engagement type of ring it's not like it is an old ring he got for himself to celebrate his cat or whatever. Right?... I'm r-right, correct? Maybe just bite the bullet and just ask him 'why?'
