We've been together for 18 yrs, married for 16, actually renewed our vows on our 15th, he is the person I'm closest to in the world, & of course I COULD do anything around him, I just can't see that being comfortable for any man to witness! Everyone is totally entitled to their own opinion, & hey to each his own! Just not for me ;)

Luckily my hubby doesn't freak out over this kind of thing, but that doesn't mean I want him to see it when I change my tampon. I would ask him to get out of the bathroom or at least turn around. Op, sorry you had to see that but that just means she is comfortable around you. If you get married someday you will probably see a lot more stuff about your wife than you want to. Probably accidentally at first then get desensitized later on.
