Hey heteronormatives, the OP is female too. Regardless OP, someone who truly cares about you would be willing to work with your dietary decisions. Talk to her about *why* you are vegan. If she cannot/will not understand that it isn't a fad decision, it may be time to move on. Trust me on this, being veg in a carnivore culture here in America isn't easy - that's why I'm married to a Hindu guy :D
Not that OP's gender matters to the context of the story at all, but that little icon next to the username means they identify as male.
most hindus are not vegetarian. even if they are, it is not tied to the religuon itself. veganism is not even on the radar. either the op completely misunderstands his own religion or he is messing with ignorant white people.
That is one very, very old fad!
hindus are SOMETIMES vegetarians, not vegans. what are you smoking?
Have a juicy burger or a steak and test your level of devotion to Hinduism. Besides have you spoken to her about the gods you believe in like say the flying monkey and elephant head guy? If she laughs at those how can you be together?
TBH I would be careful of the dinners she cooks you..... you never know what she might put in
That is a really good point you made. I would be checking everything after that comment she made.
paranoia much?
Being vegan is not part of Hinduism. Nice try trying to use religion as an excuse. (A very small % of Hindu are vegetarian by choice, but it's not part of the religion itself)
exactly. silly white people always stand up for anything, even if it is not real.
Maybe try following a religion that isn't total bullshit?

While what she did was disrespectful to you... I don't see why you being vegan should stop you from enjoying a friendly gathering; regardless of the food they serve.
You need to have a serious talk with your girlfriend. She shouldn't disrespect you and your choices/beliefs like that. If she continues to do this you have to consider dumping her
