I dunno if this is just me, but...it seems as though your girlfriend was just looking for an excuse to cheat on you. Hell, this makes me wonder if maybe she had been cheating on you all along and used this as an excuse to bring it to the surface. Just makes me curious what else she's been up to, and why she'd screw over a four year relationship just because you have a high priority job. Either way, dump her worthless ass, understand that she doesn't speak for all women in the world, and know that there is someone out there who would feel lucky to have you, surgeon on call or not.
