Not being arrested just means you're smart enough to not get caught.

Many people have just never done anything illegal (traffic ticket, speeding, etc. excluded because you won't get arrested for it). So yes, some people never get caught, but a lot are good people in the sense that they obey the law.

tattoos do tell a bit but a background check would be better if its like a first meeting I can see the check for that but if they met you before its a bit un-needed...

I'll admit I'm involved in the hiring of new professionals and do associate tattoos with impulsivity and lack of forethought.... as I believe most employers of professionals do. Frankly I'll always hire an non-tattooed applicant over and equally skilled tattooed applicant. I can see why her parents had reservations they wanted to disprove.

Not really #131. My dad has 6 tattoos and he got a really good job and they might even make him manager. Professionals don't just hire someone with no tattoos and lower skills over the one with tattoos and higher skills. I'll admit, it is a turn off for some companies, yeah, but what they really look at is if they can hide the ink while at work. So OP's girlfriend's parents were in the wrong to judge him so quickly just because he has ink
