Today, my grandfather was counting all the grandchildren he had and saying how fortunate he was to have all of us. When I pointed out that he'd forgotten to count me, he turned and said "You're adopted, you don't count as a real grandchild" FML

Seriously, that's like saying your in-laws aren't related to you. His kids spouses aren't blood relatives, so he has a massive bias.

that sucks bad, I wasn't adopted but when I was young my mom remarried and his family just treated me like I was his daughter all along even after he pasted away a few years ago they still treat me like I'm part of their family, this really sux OP but these people are right old people still have a stigma about adoption just tell your other family members what happened and start calling him by his first name
