Today, my grandmother was sent to the ER. My family blamed it on her being allergic to my cats, making me feel guilty. She just called me to tell me the test results informed her that she is actually allergic to the carrot cake they got her. I gave my cats away 15 minutes ago to a little girl. FML

Aw, well you can't exactly go back to the little girl and ask for your cats back. I would suggest maybe getting a new kitten? I know it won't be the same as your other ones, but at least it's something.

I would have to disagree that cats are filthy animals, you obviously have never had one or tried to keep a feral cat. The majority of cats make great pets and keep themselves clean and use a litter box. Hairballs and peeing around the house are results of improper care. I've had 7 cats throughout my life and have never had problems with hairballs or peeing

You gave up your cats because you family said it was because of them? Are they all doctors? No? Then why are you getting medical advice from them? God people who hate animals are so disgusting. Lehk, you clearly know nothing about cats, so shut up. Anyone who owns them know they are extremely clean creatures, and spend hours grooming themselves. Just because you don't like animals doesn't mean no one else is allowed to.

You guys are ignorant. Can anyone here read behind the lines and understand what the OP is talking about? Dumb *****. The family said it was because of the cats--obviously, the grandmother had a PRE-EXISTING allergy to cats. Anyone who said YDI "because you believed your family" is stupidity incarnate. Also, she gave them away because she was KIND and a good granddaughter. She wanted her grandmother to be able to come over without having to get sick. Anyone who says YDI "because you gave them away" is ******* ignorant and cruel. If you were allergic to cats, would you visit a house that had cats? Would you then feel a bit of resentment to the people that refused to give up their cats, thereby choosing an animal over you? Obviously, the answers are no and yes, respectively. Dumbasses.

How dare you go into someone's house and expect them to get rid of their pets who they probably regard as family for your short visit?! I agree w/ post ^... No part of op indicates that grandma had a pre-existing allergy to cats. If they knew for a fact it was the cat hair they wouldn't have tested her to see what it was and they probably would have never found out it was the cake.
