Keep your head up and be serious about yourself and you'll be fine!
you should work so hard that eventually you'll prove them wrong
have you Consider that the fund it funny that there son have a "sugger mommy" vs pay for him self? aka not being manly?
what're you trying to say?
Yeahhhhhh, sugar mamas usually have at least 15 year age gap. Hence "mama". At least that's the definition of a sugar daddy, "A wealthy old man that gives expensive gifts in exchange for friendship or intimacy"
I think #36 is trying to say maybe they are laughing at their son for 'not being a man' and sending his wife out to work. A very old fashioned idea. There was one person who made snide comments when I supported my husband through his university degree. Snide comments stopped when my husband now makes over $200,000 a year which he would not have been able to if he had not quit work to study.
Could be. Snide comments were made within our female church group gathering, not to me specifically, but in my general direction. I am still working, because I enjoy it and I feel I make a difference in the world. In her mind, I should have given up my job once my husband was making enough money to support our household. Some 'church' groups have the bitchiest, unkindest people you can come across. She actually said a man should be ashamed if his wife worked. The snide comments also stopped I think because she grew up a little and realised that many women had more ambition than to just sit at home and keep house. Or maybe she grew some tact. I pity her should her husband become ill and cannot work, thus making her go out and support their home.
Finally! Someone that doesn't jump to the conclusion of sexism. There's plenty of different possible reasons the in laws responded like that.
Well that depends on where you work...stand them up work hard you'll be the one laughing
honestly, I had to Google it. so not everyone would think that of you. (side note: that really blows you have to deal with those types of negative people)
I don't think this comment is on the correct FML.
Prove them wrong then you're gonna be the one laughing.
Being the one making money while the other is going through school isn't easy and can strain or break a relationship. Often times now 2 people to have to work. Only one person working just isn't enough (on average) especially if your trying to have something left to put into your savings account. They may not be laughing at her per say, but the unrealistic notion that "it'll work as long as we love each other" mentality that is very common in situations like this .While nice it doesn't change the fact things will be more difficult with one of them working and it's better to be realistic about what it could mean financially and for the relationship.

Never mind them, OP. As long as you work hard, you can prove them wrong. :)
