a) Locks are amazing. Some people don't have them. You, however, have (had) money with which to purchase one. b) Children aren't trustworthy people. I don't know how old this one was, but their brains say they should tell everyone everything. I was like this as a child. My sister was like this. My twin brother was like this. It's the way of the world. Sorry, OP, but odds are you could have avoided at least half of this scenario.
