well. the maid cant pay because we give her 15$ PER month. and we cant deduct it because... IN rural places of Nepal , where my servant comes from, one family consists of 9/10 sons or daughters .. so that 15$ directly goes to her HUGE family.

Depending on the source you read, there are right now either thousands or millions at risk because of starvation in Nepal. The maid is lucky she has a job and source of food, but how would you expect her know how to take care of electronics?

Whether the OP has a maid or not, its still annoying to have to go buy a new ps3. They'd have to get all the data back etc. It doesn't matter how rich you are, losing £300/$500+however many hours of saved files for no reason is annoying.

What's with all the hating because he has a maid? Many professional people work lots of hours, and don't have time to clean or do laundry, and if they make enough to have help, so what? OP, if she's bonded, the service will pay for it to be replaced. If she's private, I'd work something out with her so that she can pay for it over time, so it won't affect her as much.
