Today, my manager made everyone put up Christmas decorations around the store. As well as this, we're going to have Christmas music playing on repeat all the way through to January. It's not even September yet. FML

In the Netherlands, shops are fined if Christmas decorations are put up before the 4th of December. Their "war on terror" ;) .

Thanksgiving music isn't really my thing, but any store that's blasting Christmas music instead of a spooky sounds cd or something along the lines of the Monster Mash come Halloween would be off my list of places to shop.

"We Gather Together" is the only one I recall by name. I used to work in a store that played traditional Thanksgiving music all November. If you're curious, I'm sure a search of 'Thanksgiving playlists' or the likes would answer any questions.

working in retail means Christmas is such an anticlimax you spend months preparing putting up decorations listening to xmas music having meetings about xmas trading (these have already started) only to take the xmas decorations down at 7pm on xmas eve when the shop shuts I love xmas but its way too much just for 1 day

Christmas is a 6 month event now lasting from early-mid August to early-mid January now it seems. Completely ridiculous. Actually working retail through it all friggin' sucks. I used to get customers complaining about it and it's like "and you don't even have to spend 40 or more hours a week here! Just think how much I hate it!" It's just torture and should be illegal. FYL, OP.
