Today, my mom baked a cake for the whole family. One spent EpiPen later, I found out there were nuts in it, which I'm severely allergic to. My mom's defense was that she thought I'd have "gotten over" my allergy by now. FML

She's a nutcase. My parents don't believe in allergies either. That's why they don't get overnight visits with my allergic child.

How does one not "belive" in an allergy. Its not a mermaid for gods sake its a proven fact that threatens and takes lives daily. Not to be rude but your parents are too old fashioned its just stupid.

Not old-fashioned, not stupid, I'm just the type of person to stand up for myself. Since they can't stop me from being me they take it out on my kids. One day they will cross the line and learn Hell hath no fury like that of a scorn mama3.

Actually, some allergies will fade away as a child matures and the body affairs to its surroundings. But not nearly as likely as them persisting to adulthood, meaning ops mother is still an idiot.

You can in fact "get over," or out grow, an allergy.

You can most certainly get over an allergy. When I was 2-4 years old I was allergic to feather blankets/pillows. Now I can use them and nothing happens.

This is ****** up, for lack of better words. How do you forget a potentially fatal allergy that your child has? I think her saying that she thought you would have "gotten over it" was her very badly trying to cover up that she didn't remember. At least, I hope so. If not, she is a dangerous idiot.
