It sounds like some people have mentioned peer pressure as a reason for doing it. I've never really felt the urge to give into peer pressure, so I really don't know what that's like. I was never one to have strong emotions, which I believe are the cause of most irrational thought. Anyway, the irrationality of cutting is the thing that really kind of gets to me. When you make the conscious decision to go cut yourself, you're throwing reason out the window. There's no rational why to justify doing something like that, and I imagine that the second you're okay with doing someone like that, you end up standing on a slippery slope that could lead to even more self-destruction.
