Today, my mom started dipping into my college savings, just so she can continue throwing money away on visiting a medium who claims she can channel the spirit of our recently-deceased family dog. FML

Well, you mom could be in pain, or just crazy.

If your mother's seance leader was very short and disappeared without a trace, there would be a small medium at large.

I'm not denying this is ridiculous of you mother, but you're very lucky to have those college savings (assuming your mother/family made those savings for you).

#49, I don't treat noor like a god. But someone telling her to 'stop commenting' on a comment that has nothing bad in it is pretty ridiculous. He's not giving his opinion, he's just flat-out telling someone to stop commenting without giving a reason why. Besides, the FML Moderators have that power, and they rather not ban someone who causes no trouble with anyone.

That is just disgusting that a parent could love a pet more than their own child. The dog is dead, and she needs to move on. You, her child, are her future. Not the dead dog. It's not coming back. You, however, still have (or had) a chance at a future that she seems more than happy to throw away. I'm really sorry OP, I hope Mom comes to her senses.

I really don't think it's a matter of loving more. It's a not being able to move on thing. Denial. It's common that some people get stuck there after a loss. Any loss. It usually means something else is going on. Yeah the situation sucks. But when someone is having an issue, help over judgement or disgust often moves them forward faster.

How much does she pay for this medium? All your life they tell you to study your ass off then when it comes down to college n tuition they say it can wait...jeez

Well this is when you find a way to stop this from happening. Granted, I have not a freaking clue as to how you'll do that, if your name is linked to the account you might be able to do something. Good luck OP. if talking to your mom isn't working then cause a big stink by talking to the bank, the cops, your grandparents, whatever and maybe she'll be embarrassed enough to stop.

Pay for college yourself, I did. Why does everyone assume their parents will pick up the tab.

OP already has a college fund, so OP's parents already picked up the tab. Financial help from parents is always benaficial due to college being so damn expensive these days. But please, tell us how special you are because you payed for college by yourself.

For all you know that is OP's money. Because OP is likely a minor, it's harder to keep parents out of their bank account so Mom can do whatever she wants.

my mother is, stated kindly, less than rationally minded and tends to get carried far away from reality. our house was worth three quarters of a million when the market crashed and that was to be mine and my sister's tuition, housing, and vehicles once it sold and because of My mother, it was foreclosed on instead and now I'm about to graduate - and on that proud day I will begin a long and lonely road of paying back 20,000 in tuition. so even though you can be high and mighty for doing it yourself, I happen to have a dish of STFU reserved for you because when your parents make a commitment to help you and your mother's mentality squashes all your help, it feels like a major betrayal to have to sit there and listen to her pitiful excuses trying to justify her immature actions and know that after years of looking up to and trusting her as an adult, I'm the only adult in the room now.

I would tell that medium to figure out a way to help me get the money back then again mediums are scam artists

If only a medium could of seen this coming.

Mediums talk to spirits. They are not generally precognitive. Besides, how would that have helped OP? I'm pretty sure the medium doesn't mind taking the money, no matter where it came from.

Withdraw all of that money and hide it from you're quite gullible mother. Fast.
