Today, my mother described what her ideal daughter-in-law should be like. Half-way through her description, fishing for some compliments, I told her that such a girl would be way above my league. She sighed and emphatically agreed. FML

I hate when people fish for compliments.

FYL that your mom agreed to what you said. YDI for saying that in the first place.

Don't take that! You get a girl, you prove your mum wrong! Yet paying a girl to adapt that "description" would be so much easier. Up to you.

You can't handle the truth. I'm joking, I'm sure you'll find the perfect person that suits you.

Well it shouldn't really matter what she says. It's obviously up to you on how your ideal girlfriend should be like and who she is.

Agreed. Why can't parents just be happy that their children are happy? Most parents standards are too high, I think.

No shit, they want the best for their kids.

Well yeah, but my point was that some parents dream up of the "perfect" person for their children; and won't accept someone that doesn't meet THEIR criteria... Yada yada. Better?

Well prove her wrong bro go get you a dime piece haha or a play mate will do

op, your mothers future daughter in law will be YOUR wife, so maybe you should remind her that she should be thinking about what would be ideal for you, not her, and her description of that should be "whoever makes you happy".

There is no person way above your league. You can and will get the perfect wife you want. Don't let her tell you who is the best wife is or how the best wife is going to be.

I don't know why people bother fishing for compliments. Either you'll be stuck with a humiliating insult or you'll get a fake compliment dripping with sarcasm.
