Sounds like you both need to grow a pair and learn how to say "no." You don't have to let anyone live there, even if it's your mother-in-"maw."
Since she's in good health, she won't have a heart attack when you tell her to get a new house. You just got married, you have your own family. That's not acceptable.
I would have no qualms telling my MIL to kick rocks. Hahaha. I have my own life and marriage to focus on, and I don't want to wear pants in my house. And she is bananas. Scary bananas.
Seeing as youre both against her moving in I would just straight up tell her no, and if she tries to guilt you just tell her she shouldnt have sold her house. Your house your rules, fukdatbitch
You have your own family now. Your mom comes second
Nope. Nope. Nope. If she's trying to pull a stunt like that just flat out tell her NO. It's a new marriage and you need your space. If she's lonely or whatever get a dog.

It is obvious that she is doing this out if evil intentions so maybe try to put her in a nursing home and visit her every week at least.
Yeah it's totally acceptable to say no to that.
