Today, my mother was reading an annual Christmas letter from an old university friend. When she remarked that she could have married him instead of my father, I replied that she wouldn't have had me then. She then said, "Exactly, I could have had his daughter instead." FML

Ah, Christmas. All about celebrating the joy that is family.

"So understand Don't waste your time always searching for those wasted years" Personally-- I'm just grateful I wasn't swallowed instead. :P

Or abandoned to die a slow, painful, agonizing death stuck in between the pages of a **** mag, in the male toilet of the local mechanics workshop...

Awwh Op! I'm sure she was only playing around!

Even if she was playing around, that was a horrible thing to say

does your father know about the letters? or what's in them?

Pretty sure the FML never stated that OP's mom and her classmate ever had an affair, or that the Christmas cards contained anything remotely inappropriate.

bitter women can be very insensitive. just spite her by being a better mom than she is.

I'm sure she was just kidding. Me and my mother have that kind of relationship. She says mean stuff to me, I laugh and tell her it's too bad cause she's the one who raised me to be the way I am.

This wouldn't be on FML if the mother was joking. That's a bitch thing to say.

How kind. Don't worry, my mom said she wishes she just had my brothers and wants me to move out. Too bad I'm only 14.

My mom was having a bitch fit one day and denounced me and my twin sister,"You aren't my children. You are monsters!" And then claimed my little brother was her only child. I understand :-(

Some people are really ***** to their kids. Today, I saw a monster---I mean mother--tell her daughter the only thing she was getting for Christmas was a gym membership because she was too far to wear stylish clothing. Her kid was 16 and looked ready to cry. The other girl with them got a ton of clothes. I ended up sitting in the Target Starbucks with her while she cried her eyes out. Her mother "forgot" her at the store, told her to walk her happy ass hole (10 miles). I bought her some food, took her home, and asked if she wanted to call the police. She has my number but I haven't gotten the call yet.

sounds like your mother's genes are the problem ones, not your dad's.

Love you too, mum. Thanks for the comforting stroll down memory lane. No one on earth can make you feel deep sorrow, inadequate, regret, miniscule and hollow like your mum.
