What have you got against someone saying "my husbands mother?" "Mother in law" doesn't sound any more endearing. Sounds like a court appointed mother. Lol. I dislike the term and agree with the way OP said it.
saying mother in law or husbands mother are just as correct as each other. just because you prefer one term over the other, doesnt mean you need to try and force it on someone else.
