Today, my parents bought a new car with the money they made from selling mine. To make up for selling my car without telling me, they let me choose the make, model, and colour of the new car... which I just found out I'm not allowed to drive. FML

skittlesftw tells us more.

I'm the op (just made an account) I bought the car with my money, and since they drove the car as well they paid for some maintance and insurance. They decided to sell the car without talking to me first, but said that I would be able to drive the new car they were going to buy. Turns out the insurance would be too expensve with me on it, hence the FML. Not all bad though, they feel guilty so they are sorting me out with a car once i finish uni. (only just found this bit out)

Well, did you buy your car, or did they buy it for you?

If the parents sold the car, it was in their name... which means either they paid for it or OP is an idiot for paying and putting it in their name...

ur asian... coz thats wat my parents did to my brother's car im azn

maybe this is their way of telling you that you're a horrible driver

you don't know if the car is in her name or not, snice most authorized dealers won't sell teenagers good cars her parents probably cosigned on the car. second most people here probably didn't buy their first cars either. thrid the person who said they brought their car pays for insurance, gas, taxes, repairs and rent only working 16 hours a week is lying. even if you get paid 10 dollars an hour that is only 640 dollars a month minus taxes no way that could happen

precisely what I said. Unless of course that person is a rocket scientist :]

My fiance bought his car, pays for repairs, insurance, pays for our apartment, and pays for food working between 19 and 25 hours a week. It's not unreasonable.

if the ownership papers says it's your parents, suck it up.... car isn't your toy!

What a whiny little baby! Plenty of kids don't have parents who cannot even afford to have their parents buy them a car. Either get a job to purchase your own car or learn to read the bus schedule!

your parents are friggin' beast for letting you pick out the car, but total asses for not letting you drive it. :P

All depends on who had their name on the ownership doesn't it? I ride the heel-toe-express so I know nothing.
