Today, my parents got me a new computer for my birthday. They also took the liberty of throwing out my old computer, with 8 years of photos, videos, music, documents, emails, and bookmarks on it. But that's okay, I had a backup. They threw that out too. FML

why would they throw out your old computer?are they idiots? I don't think anyone is that stupid... I think this is either fake, or you have the STUPIDEST parents in the world. if this is real and you just have parents who have been living under a rock for the past 15 years, YLIF.

I now copy weblinks to notepad, then regularly transfer them to Myspace, and flash memory, or CD.

Tell your parents that they can't just throw it out, there are laws as to how to properly dispose of computer equipment, and they could face jail time if it isn't disposed of properly. See if you get it back.

I promise to not be this stupid when my son gets older.

If your back up was an external hard drive, why would they throw that out? It's not even part of the computer. Did they just put it out with the rest of the rubbish or donate it somewhere? I would've thought the less computer savvy a person was the more he or she would be likely to think everything needed to be saved.

wow, what makes you think that. there is no info about him illegally downloading anything. Ever heard of itunes?

I hope they at least cleared your computer's memory before throwing it out o.o That would suck if that got into the wrong hands...

ydi for having three computrs at once, and complaining about things that are replaceable.

Where does it say anything about 3 computers? It talks about two: the old one the OP no longer has and the new one. 2. And only 1 at a time.

please show me where he said he has 3 computers. He had ONE computer, and a backup (a 'backup' is not a computer, it's just a hard drive). He then got GIVEN a new computer, and the old computer got thrown out.. hence only one computer at a time.

Not only that, but he's not complaining about something replaceable. His data is probably not replaceable.
