Today, my parents let me babysit my baby sister for the first time. About an hour after they left, I was carrying her downstairs and tripped. Try calling your parents from the hospital and explaining that their daughter, who can't even crawl yet, has a broken leg. FML

Hopefully she's okay and everyone believes your story! Hospitals tend to suspect the worst when it comes to injured children

Unfortunate accidents happen all the time, and luckily it wasn't worse than a broken leg. Hope she heals quick!

well, i don't think they're gonna trust you with a baby anymore...

It was an accident, OP didn't do it on purpose. Their parents will be upset but I'm sure they'll trust OP again.

This almost exact same thing actually happened to me with my sister when she was less than a year old! I feel for you, friend. Your sister will heal, and she'll also give you crap about it for the rest of your life. And yes, I'm speaking from experience. :-P

I really hope she's ok! Poor thing. Hope you're ok too, OP!

"Be careful next time" Yes, because clearly OP was being reckless in this case, just hoping something would go wrong. What were you thinking when you made that comment?

I fell down the stairs recently holding my baby. I thought I had landed on him and envisioned a broken back. Luckily he landed in the gap between me & bottom step. I know how frightening it is. And can not imagine how you feel. Sorry you had to go through this. I hope baby heals quick and there's no lasting damage.

That must have been horrible. My mom had twins recently and I'm always scared that I'll drop one of them when I carry them.

Poor things, you and her. I fear falling while carrying my baby every day.

That's really unfortunate I'm sorry to hear that. I hope she's ok ❤

I thought baby's don't break their bones

They have them don't they? Why the heck wouldn't they break then? Why the hell did you think this?

It IS harder to break a baby's bones, but they will still break. I think it has something to do with the development and how they aren't as hard as an adult's. My oldest younger brother is 2 years older than our youngest brother and, when the youngest was an infant, the older one accidentally flipped one of those glider chairs over backwards on top of the baby while gliding in it. We thought for sure he was going to have broken bones since my other brother fall on him with the chair and his leg was what took the biggest hit, but he was completely fine other than probably being scared. I imagine it hurt, but there were no broken bones. Fifteen years later and it's the sports that have done all the damage to both boys.

Their bone aren't as developed and strong at those younger ages. Who told you that lie? I would take parenting advice from them.

#30: Babies' bones are more likely to BEND rather than outright fracture or break but it's still considered a "break" and still treated as such, because the bone can deform or be more likely to break again later if left like that without being treated.
