Matilda!
Were you happening to be reading Matilda?
is your name Matilda?
Well, ardent readers are slowly dying out. In the US statistically 1 person in 4 doesn't read at all. 80 million people in the US read 0 books yearly! It's just unbelievable. Another thing I've noticed is that there's less and less people solving puzzles and all sorts of brainteasers. I remember when I was a kid almost everybody was playing those games. We even did them at schoool. I use the public transport a lot and I haven't seen anyone solving brainteasers for a long time. Now that people have smartphones it's just texting and playing games...At my local book store the shelves with science and tech magazines are always full and almost nobody seems interested. Yes, I do realize that there are still many people doing those things so don't throw rocks at me :P I'm talking about the vast majority not everyone.
I don't read books, yet I still see myself as a perfectly thoughtful and intelligent individual. Despite that, I approve of this post.
#42 - Same. I don't like to read "for fun" but I like to consider myself as an intellectual individual :) Although when I do watch tv, I like to watch game shows, like Jeopardy! I only read if for school or other things people just HAVE to read, like menus, directions, or something like that. Plus, I LOVE brainteasers and puzzles. They're great ways to stimulate the mind :D
I wonder if that 1 in 4 statistic happens to match with the one for how many can't read as well.
Your last name is Simpson? If yes, you must be Liza :-)
Hey, you beat me to that one, lol! Although it's "Lisa" not "Liza".

have you seen Matilda?
Sigh. This is what's wrong with this culture. Read on, OP! Your superior intellect and vocabulary will pay dividends.
