Sorry to hear that OP, you put much effort in it. However, many employers don't have much time to read all the applications they get and therefore it is easier for them to read a short standard application than a 6 page essay.
This sucks, but for future reference, the thing is, employers are people, they dont want to sit there and read an 'essay' the best thing to do is put all relevant work information on your resume in an easily readable 'skimmable' form. and damn man, make sure one of those points is 'thorough'
They didn't check????
FYL for working hard and losing to someone who didn't. YDI for not being supportive of your sister's success.
And attitudes like that are why the world is full of assholes.
You probably should've been the preferred candidate, but six pages? Two is max in job applications; no one wants to read a book on top of a resume.
mba programs dont teach you how to write essays. also, what jobs require an essay on the application? additionally, that wouldn't be the only deciding factor. perhaps the logic in your essay was as flawed as that of this fml?

Work smart not hard.
You're better off not working in a place like that if they don't appreciate real effort and hard work anyway. Hope you find a job, OP.
