Today, my sister and I heard back from a job we both applied to. I had used the knowledge from my MBA degree to write a six-page essay for the application, while she just copied and pasted hers from a random website. Guess who got the job. FML

You're better off not working in a place like that if they don't appreciate real effort and hard work anyway. Hope you find a job, OP.

That's called luck. Best of luck to your next interview.

Maybe she has a better personality haha

Bottom line is: 6 pages = trash can (Even if you are Einstein. This is 2015 and while you were obtaining your degree, either recently or many years ago, the workforce has been flooded with younger workforce applicants. No time for your application. Too many apps piled up. Someone with an MBA should know trends like this exist. YDI

You should always have a lazy person on your payroll. They will almost certainly find an easier way to do something

Tell them, she doesn't deserve the job. You do.

well.. i got my job with 2 pages. 1 page of simple details like education background and contact info. 1 page of self evaluation. Simple is power

Not to be mean but I can see why you didn't get it. Job seekers don't have the time or the patience to read a 6 page essay when they have so many apps to go through. It still sucks that you put so much time into it and still didn't get that job though. I bet you can find better.

your degree means nothing. it's just a worthless piece of paper.
