Today, my sister got married. It was also the day that I was supposed to deliver a heartfelt toast to the happy couple. I got so nervous that I kept stuttering and finally ended with "Congrats Beth and Steve!" Her husband's name is Eric. Her ex was named Steve. FML

That really sucks OP. You really should have practiced your speech and made cue cards to prevent an awkward situation. I'm sure your sister and new brother in law will understand and forgive you.

That sucks that you messed it up, and maybe you should have written it down, but when I had to do my best man speech, I winged it and just spoke from the heart because writing it down and delivering it didn't seem genuine. But I also had 4 years of speech at that point so yeah.
