Today, my sister told me about a website that explained why our stressed cat has been obsessively pulling out the fur on her legs. Interested, I asked for a link. Not just out of deep concern for the cat, but because I have the same problem. FML

There's also this strange condition called "trichotillomania" where people compulsively pick at their hair. Brought on by a variety of factors.

Believe it or not, my vet told me that animals sometimes have the exact same health issues as the owner!

Sorry to hear that. It sounds like you have fleas.

I have Trichotillomania and it sound like you have it too. Search "TLC" on Google. it's really helpful and you can meet people with the same problem as you

You have Tricotillomania. This is pulling your hair out. It is a mental illness that you can take medicine for to stop. I have it. I take medicine every day and now have a full head of hair. Don't procrastinate. It can leave you w bald patches and turn you prematurely gray.

My cat does that! Hers is from stress. I'd google alopecia in humans.

Contrary to what a lot of people on here have said, this is NOT a form of OCD, and cannot be treated with OCD medication. Trichotillomania is classified as an impulse control disorder. It's in the same family as Tourettes. Thus, it's actually very difficult to treat with medication. The most common way to treat it is with cognitive-behavioral therapy. I've also heard that many have success with hypnosis.
