If you place a closed, room temperature soda can in icy water and add salt, the salt causes the ice to melt rapidly resulting in a quickly cooled beverage in about 60 seconds. This is such a cool little trick to know :D

I'm sorry but you kinda deserve it. Children don't just end up stupid... It needs a special kind of stupid or a special kind of neglect for children to turn out this dumb... So I can't help but feel that it's partly your fault for not teaching her any common sense... You can't learn everything in school, and common sense should be thought by parents
