Today, my son's obsession with memes hit a new low when he got suspended from school for running into other students yelling, "Allahu akbar." He's 15 and doesn't understand why he got in trouble. FML

Today, I was bitched out by my 17 year old son's teacher. It seems the idiot teacher made the kids advocate for his own political beliefs in a presentation, and my son ended his speech saying, "And it remains my opinion that our instructor is cramping my motherfucking style." Instant suspension. FML

Today, my son's school called to inform me that I had to come pick him up, as he was caught vandalising. What shenanigans had he gotten up to? Writing "Epstein didn't kill himself" on various desks and walls around the school. I'm not sure if I should applaud the sentiment, or be annoyed that he got caught. FML

Today, my son, who is on the autism spectrum, was given a detention at school because he called another child fat in response to being called a "fat Indian curry muncher". The other child got away with it because he started crying. Oh and afterwards he called my son dumb for getting detention. FML

Today, my son was expelled from school for bullying. The event in question took place off campus, during spring break, and was a friendly scuff. The iPhone video they used as evidence clearly showed the other boy laughing his head off and both of them sharing a coke afterwards. FML

Today, my 14 year-old got a 5-day suspension for fighting. He stood up for an 7th grader who was getting picked on. While the poor kid was eating lunch, they were messing with him when my son stepped in. There were some words said, then a fight. He feels terrible for fighting but I think he was in the right. FML

So is he suspended because the school does not allow religious beliefs to be practiced while at school? Allah Hu Akbar literally translates to God is great. would the school have been similarly harsh if he ran into people and said "God is great" or "Praise the Lord"? was he suspended for running into people? Or was he suspended for not speaking in English? I know a few of my friends were suspended for not speaking in English, and that was here; in India!

I think it is the context and how the phrase has been used in high profile cases. nothing wrong with the phrase itself but yelling it whilst running at people is offensive and could cause panic.

I know the exact same feeling with my boyfriend. He yells allahu akbar everyday no matter where we are. I feel like if we ever get married he won't say i do, he will say allahu akbar.
