SparkOfJade tells us more.
First thing first: I'm a girl. I have an engineering degree from one of the top universities in my field, and hold all the necessary certifications and then some. I do have a military background, but I am not in the military any longer, and I now have a full-time job at one of the top IT firms in the country. I'm a consultant, meaning I contract out to our company's clients. The "superior" in question was a higher up on the client side which is why he makes so much more than I do. He's been there at least 10 years. I'm on year 2 with my company. As anyone who's been a contractor will tell you, you can only explain to a client that they are being insane for so long until you do what they ask because they are paying the bills and "the customer is always right" *sigh* I obviously can not tell you which client it was. I'm really enjoying the witty responses, and even the not so witty ones (I did use the proper form of "there," you imbecile.)

I don't even work with computers and I know that that is asinine. I would log the incident in a book and possibly use it to get him removed.
If you work in the military he needs to be demoted for destroying military property. If you work in the government or anywhere else, get him fired for this. There is no way anyone that stupid should be running a company in a supervisory position.
Does he have a superior you can report him to?
Sometimes I can't believe the things that come out of some people's mouths.
Perhaps it's just company policy to destroy ALL old tech equipment, cable or otherwise?

If it was someone in the Air Force, I'd be depressed for my branch
Yea, I can agree. If someone feels they are superior to you, they often won't listen to reason and like you said "customer is always right." Go girl, show them how intelligent you are! I've amaze people all that time that didn't realize that I am an RN and I can perform advanced operations on a computer.
Did you feel some of your intelligence sapping away as you sat there cutting up the cables?!
I'm not generalising about nationalities. But we have many of such imbecilic "superiors" here in Singapore. I don't mind my government importing genuine Foreign "Talent", but I'm not surprised that you've also encountered one of these American ignoramuses plaguing the world and suffered some anguish due to their lamentable unmerited beliefs.
Looks like Homer Simpson finally got fired from the nuclear power plant.
I would document this and any other incidents like it and send the info to his superior so they know what kind of idiot they hired and are paying that salary to.
