My high school psych class actually mentioned this once. It's a pretty good question. It doesn't matter if the answer is painfully obvious to people now, because at one time it wasn't.

Are you stupid? They are. When a baby is in the womb then hear the parents talking in an accent. The baby then beings to develop that accent. Baby's cry with an accent. Stupid
