Today, my wife was in seemingly never-ending labor. It got so bad, I overheard a nurse in the doorway mutter to a coworker that she hoped my baby would just die or something, so she could finally go take a smoke break. FML

i hope the wife didnt have to hear that shit. you need to get her fired immediately. their is no room in that profession for that kind of behavior. no matter how long it takes, she signed up for the job, she should be able to do that without those kinds of words.

Get her ass fired!!! Omg people suck! ?

As a Midwife, I am so sorry that this happened to you. I know some midwives can be really horrible people, and I have heard some really inappropriate things, but this is the worst thing I have heard. With midwives, we either seem to be really good, or really really bad. You have to report this person. There is no excuse for saying that. I could not imagine even the worst nurse I have worked with saying that. They have serious issues and should not be working in a hospital environment. Our job is to support women and help them during this amazing yet stressful time. The word midwife means 'with woman'. I just do not understand some people. Childbirth is amazing and it is a privilege to be a part of this very special time.

#83 they really should screen the nurses so there are only the ones who really care there. I'd wanna kill a midwife that was rude like that on a good day, if I'm in pain (which I would be if I were in labor) I'd try to annihilate her!!

#88 I agree wholeheartedly. Unfortunately there are not enough midwives, so unless they are dangerous at their job, the bad midwives will keep their jobs. It is such an important day in a persons life, the day they welcome a new addition to the family, and women especially will remember EVERYTHING about it. It's amazing that as soon as women hear I am midwives, they want to share their birth story with me. I love it. A woman who had a baby 60 years ago will be able to tell you the smallest detail of what happened. It's something I try to convey to my students, you are part of a very special time, and people will remember you, so how do you want to be remembered?

#97 birth is always one of the most important moments in a woman's life. They're gonna remember. I just wish there were more midwives that cared so that the bad bed all could be pushed into the medsurg floors. The bad ones make me a bit nervous to have a child because I will already be venerable and I'm a highly anxious person, sleeping witout my husband or in a strange space is difficult for me and the last thing I want is a bad nurse making me feel even worse and more anxious.

That's so ****** up!! Makes me remember when I had my 1st child. My mom and the nurse in the room had to help me holds legs so I could push. When I finally had my son the nurse looks at me and says "you better learn to hold your own legs because I sure as hell ain't holding them go you next time" I almost came up out of the bed after her!! My 1st child I had him with no medicine and he came so quick there wasn't time time to pull out the leg things you have u sometimes use. The messed up thing about the whole thing was I had him in the baby hospital of my state.

how extremely rude and unprofessional

How and why does someone like that become a nurse

#90 usually the money and job security

Labour can take up 38 hours and I did during this time report one of the nurses because of her lack of conduct and we did get a new one asap. Report, a nurse should never wish some one should die, because then they are in the wrong job.

I hope you reported her and that your baby is born soon and healthy.. I hope your wife stays well and doesn't need any emergency assistance
