Today, on a movie date with my boyfriend, it took me a while to understand why he was leaning on his elbow during the entire thing. He had an earpiece cupped in his hand and was listening to a soccer match. FML

I'm a huge fan of soccer, I can totally see myself doing that. Though it is a bit rude, it's not like you were trying to engage conversation throughout the movie. On another note, what game was he listening to?

At least he attempted to make you happy by coming with you. He could have ditched you completely to see the game instead

Aww sorry OP. You could always sit down and tell him how you feel about it and hopefully he won't do it again. :)

#51 OK, I'll refer to her as "soccer match movie date person." There, that's better, isn't it?

Nothing beats the beautiful game. Besides the European Championship is happening so you can't expect much from guys right now.

Yeah, can we not pretend this is a gender-thing? I know loads of men who don't care for football, like I know women who'd prefer dying then missing a match. You can't expect much from hardcore football fans at this time, period.

#15 How about you get that stick out of your ass? Don't mix gender problems into somewhere they don't belong, idiot. You must be one of those infamous femi-nazi creatures. Game must have been Italy vs Spain btw as somebody assumed in the earlier comments. It's certainly not galant to do such a thing but anyway he came along. Prolly means he couldn't really bring himself to ditch you and just watch the game. If he is a big football fan (it's ******* called football, get it right people) which I guess he is he chose the best possible option. Good boyfriend!

#15, so you're telling me some women would prefer to die THEN watch the game? So you'd be watching the game in the afterlife? Wow, I've learned a lot today.

Well #4 brought gender into this, so why don't you get your stick up his ass?

26 - I'm not sure you actually read 15's comment... They clearly stated that gender isn't related to being a football fan... The OP of this thread said "so you can't expect much from guys" which 15 states that not all guys care that much for football, myself included, while some women are diehard fans. How about you cam the **** down and read before attacking someone? In fact just stop commenting if you can't manage to not go after someone for a mistake you made.

@26 That doesn't even make sense. First of all, 15 was responding to a gender-related comment by asking not to bring gender problems into it, so he was hardly "mixing them in" himself. Second, 15 said nothing in defense of women in particular; if anything he was responding to a generalization against men, so the "femi-nazi" remark is both ignorant and inapplicable.

Or how about we all calm down, it was just meant to be a light hearted comment, let's not get all offended by anything lmao. I'm a guy too, if you actually thought I was being sexist against my own gender then your life is a shambles. Take a joke, peace.

#33, thanks for correcting my English, it's not my first language and I'm obviously still making mistakes.

Don't worry about it, 56; we all knew what you meant.

OP: "It was so sweet when the main characters got together! I can only imagine what the groom thought when he kissed the bride." Boyfriend: "GOOOAAAALLLLLL!"

I think you should think about the fact he is on a movie date with you instead of doing what he obviously wants to (watching the game). I am sure you would have appreciated him just telling you but atleast he is trying!

I think that's terribly rude, especially on your date night. If your partner doesn't want to invest, let him go. Either that, or postpone date night for a time where he can invest in you.

At least he attempted to make you happy by coming with you. He could have ditched you completely to see the game instead

Or he could have been honest, said he wanted to watch the match, and offered to go on a movie date another night. Heck, he could have asked OP if she wanted to watch the match with him.

True blood Mexican boyfriend right there haha

Why would you suppose OP's boyfriend's Mexican? Football is pretty hot all over Europe right now.

Soccer is always hot around Europe haha. Also, this was posted from Switzerland, so you're not even close.
