Today, recent construction has created a manhole that cars slam over every single morning. This normally starts at 4 a.m. as people make their early commute on my busy street. With every car that hits it, there's a huge echoing slamming noise. FML

Today, just like every workday for the last 6 months, the construction workers in my building made loud noises in the morning and woke me up almost 2 hours before I would otherwise have to get up. This will continue for one more year. I'm not a morning person, and I live in a protected historical building. FML

Today, like every other day since I moved into this apartment a year ago, the construction crew started their noisy work at 5:30 in the morning. When I moved in I was promised it was a quiet neighborhood; only offices. What have they been building in the meantime? Three nightclubs. FML

Today, and the 4 months preceding it, my neighbors had been remodeling their house, which meant jackhammer noises every morning. The one day they take a break, my other neighbor decides to start a remodeling project. It'll only be two more months of this. FML

Today, I can at last cool off the house by opening my windows after one week of heatwave. Unfortunately, some asshat working for the city decided to repair the street, or rather bang bang bang on the pavement, right in front of them. From 10 pm to 6 am. Every night. For a week. They won't stop. FML

Today, I finally decided to go talk to my upstairs neighbour about the loud banging noises he makes every single morning around 8 a.m. It worked. Now he starts at 7 a.m. FML

Your neighborhood might be able to sue the city to fix it. I know a neighborhood in Austin, TX that was able to sue to get new speed-bumps removed because they were too noisy. Talk to your neighbors. If other people are having the same problem there is a good chance something can be done about it. Alternately, try putting an old towel underneath it and see if that muffles the bang.

Call the police about a noise complaint, and contact someone involved in the city or town hall. Tell them you will report the noise complaint to the police until the city fixes it.

In my room at home, there is a pipe in my wall that snaps louder than anything on earth and because my grandmother wakes up at 5 and is loud af, I've gotten accustomed to wearing earplugs every single night. It sucks but I have to. Maybe try it I think it's worth it
