Today, someone reckoned that I would never be in a relationship. So I made up this whole story about some made up guy named 'Nick' and posted stuff on my Facebook and Myspace that I'm dating him. Now all my friends want to meet him. FML

Well, you started the lie, and you got called. Time to go all in... He's in the military... yea, that's it. He's stationed in Iraqistan, fighting the suicide tourists. I don't know when I'll see him again. We had one last time together. I think I'm gonna have his baby. Tripplets, yeah, that's it. That's the ticket.

That was really dumb. No wonder you don't have a boyfriend. You live in California, and I would think there are at least a few straight male escorts in your area (sorry, don't know of any off the top of my head!). If you're over 18, suck it up and pay a guy to be "Nick" just long enough to go out to dinner; you can "break up" with him next week. Never used an escort myself, but they should be easily found by googling "straight male escorts [insert the name of your city]". Be wary of contacting anyone through escorts.com, as the site is having some legal issues; be discreet when calling, don't call from a blocked number, and expect to have to give some personal (not financial) info to prove you're not crazy or trying to set them up. (In fact, you should be wary of anyone who DOESN'T screen!) I think there's even a few agencies in California catering to straight women; it's more common than you might think. Doubtless, they'll have heard your story before; both male and female escorts hear this all the time--I have a few friends in the biz, and would know!

damn, I posted this in a much shorter way right after you. :p

If she wants to do that, to cover her shame, it might be a good idea. But lies tend to come back and bite you in the ass. I am not sure if it would be better to tell people now, or wait until they find out she had to hire someone to go on a date with her. I am not sure which is more pathetic.

Maybe you should just pay some guy to pretend to be "Nick".

Op, I think its romantic. Even the Invisible Man needs love.

You should never lie to your friends. Be careful or you will end up with no friends and no boyfriend. Solve both problems. Be honest tell them your single and want to change that. Then you can all go out and maybe you will meet a guy. If not at least you had fun with your friends!
