Today, the girl I'm dating mentioned that she'd had her healthy wisdom teeth removed to prevent her future children from having wisdom teeth. I laughed. She wasn't joking. FML
I agree, your life sucks 29 180
You deserved it 2 595

Timmeeh tells us more.

OP here. She is (was?) cute. Suddenly got a whole lot less so when I realised there was naught but cotton wool where her brainmeat should be.

I'm pretty sure there's a wisdom joke somewhere in there...

That's nothing to joke about. I've had my canines removed so I don't have any vampire kids

You should have administered the IQ test at the interview..

The girlfriend won't have to worry in the event of a Zombie Apocalypse.

Prepare for a ton of laughs and frustration with that one. What a re re.

To quote Ron White: "You can't fix stupid. There's not a pill you can take.. not a class you can go to... Stupid is forever!!!"

I know I'll sound really really uneducated when I say this, but in some way she is right. Eventually through evolution and removing wisdom teeth, people should no longer develop wisdom teeth. Although, we will most likely have them for hundreds of years to come.

No, Arinmon. She is not in any way right. Removing wisdom teeth will not remove the genes that cause people to have wisdom teeth, which will still be passed on to the children, causing them to have them. The only way they could be bred out would be if the genes were removed (by mutation, or possibly via genetic modification). Think through what you're saying. Simplest explanation: Genes are the blueprints. Destroying a house doesn't destroy the blueprints you followed to build it.

Arinmon, all you need to look at to disprove your theory is the Jewish tradition of circumcision. For thousands of years little boys have had their foreskins cut off when they are a few days old, and for thousands of years little Jewish baby boys are born with intact foreskins. Same with the Chinese tradition of foot binding, that went on for over a thousand years as well.

The only thing that has some sort of influence on having wisdom teeth is a permanent change of diet. It is true though that less and less people are actually having wisdom teeth, but not because their ancestors had them removed ^^

Hopefully they will still get the wisdom she had removed along with them?
