I hope you didn't put it that way. You could've just told her you had something else to do.
And then the next time she asks?
#77, I think Op needs, to be honest about who he can give rides to. There is no reason not to be honest in this situation. "The bike cannot handle both our weights combined, I am sorry." There are polite ways to tell someone and cruel ways. If Op told her she was a fat hippo and would never ride a bike because she would bend it into a pretzel, that would be cruel.
I have no idea how you can tell her gently.
just curious how big she is? I know lots of people that are bigger and ride just fine on motorcycles or even driving it themselves.
Heavy people driving by themselves is actually easier on a bike. The problem with other people on bikes is you don't know if they know how to lean in corners. Some people don't know how to do that and actually lean the opposite way so you have to lean over even more. Now imagine someone who is twice your weight doing that.
If someone told me this, my feelings wouldn't be hurt at all because safety comes over anything. I hope she was understanding. Also, what is the weight limit on bikes?
Like many of my fellow bikers pointed out before: Oftentimes it's not the question wheter the bike can handle the weight but much more if the bikER can. I personally find it very hard to drive with somone on the heavier side sitting behind me! I know my own limits! When I look at someone and am scared or concerend about going for a ride then I won't do it! Wheter or not the bike could handle the weight is not important to me in that situation!
My friend wanted to go for a motorcycle ride with my boyfriend once. I thought it was fine until he said, "Elephants on wheels are only something that could happen in cartoons and circuses." Just don't say something like that.
That tough I hope you were nice about it. Probably took a lot to ask.
I'm not to big but kinda chubby at 170lbs and I dated this boy who drove a Yamaha R1 and he bought this extender thing on his bike so the back wheel goes further out so I could be more comfy and added a handle to the gas tank so when I rode I felt safer
what kind of motorcycle are we talking about here, because I've seen some REAL bikes carry two people who easily totaled over 500 lbs. I'm guessing a street bike/dirt bike and not a proper hog?

That's the worst dude. I hope you let her down softly.
Dang, that sucks OP. Hopefully she understands
