Today, the police called because someone had turned in my wallet that was stolen. I happily drove home only to find that my house had been robbed and ransacked. FML

Today, I left a note on the kitchen table saying to leave the door unlocked because I lost my key. I come home to find our house ransacked and robbed. Minutes later, I found my key. In my pocket. FML

I'm thinking the wallet was stolen earlier and the guy drove to the station to get it, then his house was robbed. Otherwise it's not clear enough.

So they stole your wallet got your address, then as "Good Samaritan's" returned it to the police. Then stalked your house as you went running to pick up your wallet and robbed you. Bright side is at least they didn't pose as the cops and send you on a wild goose chase.
