Today, the war against the pigeons on my veranda reached a new level. To try and get them to clear off, I gave my window pane a short, sharp knock. It broke into several shards, and not one of the totally oblivious birds moved. Pigeons 1, Me 0. FML

Can't think of anything funny to say so I will be serious. Post a fake plastic or ceramic owl on your veranda. Usually works. If not, call me next week, as I have other ideas. :)

That will not work for long. I tried that, worked for about a day then I saw them standing on the owls head and around it.

That's odd stormchaser24. My neighbor In this Apartment Complex put one up on her balcony for that reason. In the six years that I have been here, I have never seen a pigeon, or any other bird, visit her. Other balconies including mine, yes, but never hers. I have witnessed pigeons and doves fly up to her balcony, then turn away. Then again, weird things happen up here on Canada. :)

You should have just gotten in and started driving around. They'd have left.

Pray tell...how the hell do you drive a veranda?

Maybe try some of those cheap plastic anti-bird spikes. You install them with industrial strength double stick tape. They prevent any bird from landing. They cause no damage to the birds.

I hate pigeons. Stubborn little football-shaped things. The next time one stops in front of me while I'm walking to class I'm going to punt it across the square.

If you put a bird feeder full of pop corn curnles they'll eat it and explode from the inside and die

There are two problems with this - 1) If a pigeon eats popcorn, it will NOT explode, nor will this happen with rice. It's an urban myth. 2) There's no such ******* thing as a curnle. Seriously, "curnle"??

That was a stupid way to scare off pigeons. You just have to wave a piece of paper or cloths. Think about it: what is the one thing that pigeons are instinctively most afraid of? Predatory birds, of course, so you scare them away by imitating big wings. And the nice thing is that they remember your place, so if you shoo them away a few times, they will avoid you in the future.

now you have an open window clear for throwing things at them
