Today, three women came into my work and one was wearing a shirt with a rainbow that said, "We are everywhere". I had just gotten what it was referring to and when I greeted them I ended up saying "Hi gays!" instead of the standard "Hi guys". FML

You wear a shirt that says that, you can't be offended by "Hey, gays!". It's a little funny. A little. :)

I live in SoCal - we refer to everyone here as "you guys". Just like in the south more than one person is "y'all". Guys doesn't always mean "male".

@69 actually it is illegal (or is usually decided in favor of the defendant) to discriminate against anyone for any reason other than they can not complete the job or fulfill a contract, many times people are denied things like loans simply because they do not qualify for them and they blame whatever they feel will get them the best chance at getting what they want whether it be orientation or race. Furthermore your orientation doesn't belong at work, you are there to work not to discuss your sex life and hence your work would never know. I have a couple of gay friends and know a few that are friends of friends, they would agree with me that the 'pride' that most show is ridiculous.

haha you should have just carried on like, "how cain i help you?" or "wait's up?" and pretend thats just how you speak.

OP: That's hilarious, I'm sure they didn't mind, coming from a lesbian, I'd realize your mistake because I make weird slip-ups all the time. #73: If you think your uncle got what he deserves, then why are you saying "My uncle is jobless..." blah blah blah, IT'S HIS OWN FAULT FOR HARRASSING SOMEONE!!! And the issue of gay marriage compared to the issue of suing for thousands of dollars, it's 2 completely different irrelevant topics, get an actual argument. I agree with #74 that sexual orientation is not an issue that should be discussed in the workplace, but at the same time, if a straight person went around foaming at the mouth because they're oh so in love with their boyfriend, people would just be like "Awe, that's so cute" but if I did the same thing about having a girlfriend, all you people would assume I'm just outing myself at work. It's not about sexuality, it's about being in love, so why can't I share that with friends at the workplace? I don't necessarily think people should be wearing rainbow outfits and flitting around like a fairy, but talking to your friends about a crush/signifcant other/husband or wife is a natural thing.

OP: FYL... that's an embarrassing slip of tongue... @59.... you have got some first year psychology going there.. but seriously man... don't call us feminists anal retentive..... true feminists do not care about petty stuff like that. and being anal retentive isn't too bad... the qualities include being neat and clean.. lol

I find it ironic that when I read this, "true life: I'm gay" came on MTV. Hahahahahahahhahahaha thats freakin hilarious though! But by wearing that shirt they shouldve expected to hear some sort of comment like that (I think it's funny, but then again I'm not gay lol)

i wouldnt say you deserve it (much) because its hard to think and do at the same time without mixing the two together. think how the mind and people work rather than thinking that there some dumbass for doing that.

it's not your fault, it's theirs. they shouldn't be flaunting their sexuality all over the place. ugh. just keep it to yourself unless there is a reason to talk about it i hate gay pride and asian pride, and black pride, and any of those things. you can't have pride in something you didn't choose, jesus

People on here need to stop complaining about pride. Seriously, it's just pride, even if it is sometimes stupid. There's ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with it. It's not like people are going around wearing shirts that say "We will rape your children!" Also, anyone saying that gays are completely protected in the workplace are wrong. Laws against discrimination against homosexuals in the workplace are only present in 17/50 U.S. states. There's also many places out of the U.S. that don't have these laws too. @73 You're wrong about the hate crime thing. Very few states view discrimination of sexual orientation as a hate crime. Also, in those states straight people can sue gay people too, as long as they have reason too. Of course, since there are more straight people than gay, laws of probability state that there is much lower chance of this happening. @OP/FML - haha, that's funny. I would've laughed if I were one of the lesbians. This really isn't an FML.
