at least you got a cake!
I would suggest throwing a party for yourself next year and inviting your friends. Sometimes, the very direct approach is best. Perhaps you are going through a phase in your life where you are not especially close to anyone - If I'm wrong and you have a special someone, then it's time to be a little pissed at them. Other people who are not super-close to you have lives and relationships to deal with, and, even if they really like you, they may not remember your birthday. Don't expect people to read your mind, just eat a little pride, throw a party, invite friends, AND THEN, remember THEIR birthdays and make it more of a thing since it does mean something to you.
Well, Samantha Baker, at least you got a cake. On my 30th birthday (which was about 15 years ago) my dear husband left me for someone I thought was a friend--tearing up my self-esteem in the process.
It can't be a five-star resort if they do that.
Ooo so close
