Today, trying to be cute, my boyfriend threw a snowball at me. This would have been fine had it not been hard enough to break my glasses. As a college student, I have to choose between eating for the next two weeks or replacing them. FML

I'm sure he wouldn't mind at least helping you pay to replace them. Otherwise, just eat all his food. :)

OP could be a commuter student #19, they typically don't get those meal plans. They don't at my school anyway.

Your boyfriend is a jerk. I say he gets none from you until your glasses are replaced. The you should seriously consider whether or not someone who chucks a snowball at your face that hard should be your boyfriend...

You've never had a snowball fight before? You should consider starting one; it's fun.

Don't you have a benefit plan from the school?

Being a former broke-ass student from Ferris I feel your pain...you don't really have a choice though. You can eat for two weeks and have the same problem then. Get the glasses. if he's a halfway decent human being he'll feed ya.

get a job... nuff said... I go to college and work. I have a brand new motorcycle and brand new jeep that I pay for... whiney poor people

Sounds like the scene from "The Weatherman" movie. Well, I wear glasses to, and the place I got them from (wal mart optical) gives me a life warentee entailing that if I do break my glasses, they'll replace them. Your center doesn't do this? :( and to all saying " go without glasses", I have -1.00 vision which isn't terrible, but I still have trouble reading the board, or seeing far away objects without them. She may have really bad site, like -10.00. Or maybe not, either way, the glasses were prescribed to her for a reason...

lol if her vis was -10.00 her leneses would be so thick they could stop bullets lol....

Lol true. Well i know that-20.00 is legally blind, and I've known people with -6.00. It really sucks having impaired vision....

I have one eye -3.00 and the other's -3.25. It's not too bad, and this is probably as worse as they will get.

Not really. I have -15/-16 prescriptions and I've broken a pair before. They are thick, but they're not that thick - they have different types of glass/plastic that make them less ridiculous. Totally still breakable. Also, to those saying stuff about buying them online or something, if the prescription is high enough, they might not have it online/be able to do it very fast. My prescription takes weeks to get from stores - they have to send it out to labs and they are wickedly expensive. Those stupid buy a pair-get one free deals are for people who don't even really need glasses to any significant extent - if your prescription is any kind of serious, you don't qualify for it because the lenses cost too much and insurance covers pretty much laughable amounts on glasses, at that. So while people with -1, -2 vision get two shiny, new pairs of glasses, people who actually need them get completely screwed.
