so many thumb trolls... oh well I like the twilight books let's see if i can get 100 thumbs down on this comment :D

if 39 and 20 had ANY literary smarts they would know 1. Twilight is shit 2. the retard who wrote it stole many main points FROM Wuthering Heights 3. Shit is better than Twilight 4. Only 14 year olds love the books 5. Narnia has more literary merit than Twilight.

and what was with justin beiber winning, it's like they just wanted a way to give him an award!

Why did Justin Bieber win? I'll tell you why, because he has talent that many other famous people would die for, he came from a single mom living in not the greatest conditions and was low on money, he went from being the underdog to being one of the biggest people in the hollywood industry, he's passionate about what he does, he is amazing at what he does, and he works extremely hard and never dissapoints his fans. That's why he won an award. Because he deserved it.

He won because he has crazy fans like you who wont shut the **** up about that talentless girl.

Crazed fan? You don't know me so you don't know if I'm a fan or if I respect and see other people's talents. And calling him a "talentless girl" just shows you know nothing of the facts. I bet that he can sing, dance, act, play guitar, play drums, and play piano better than you ever will. If you knew more about him you would understand that he's known how to do those things from about... age 5? All you are is an ignorant person who likes to hate on people who are more successful than you are.

i think you just proved dizzy's point there

It pretty much went. Twilight. Twilight. Twilight. OMFG BEIBER. Twilight. Twilight. Twilight.

What right do you have to judge individuals who like a book/movie just because you dislike it? You may have freedom of speech but weren't you ever taught that if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all?

we are expresing our opinion please if you've got nothing nice to say don't say it geesh, these people, always insulting like this guy^^

sucks totally! Sounds like a true sign the world's gonna end.

MTV sucks it doesn't matter what they think.

As much as I enjoyed those three films and detested Twilight, I don't see how choosing one over another manages to say anything different about your generation's cultural aptitude. None of them claim to be great works of art and every one of them grossed hundreds of millions internationally. Admittedly, Toy Story appeals to audiences as shamelessly as Twilight, and Harry Potter often presents a story that is equally inconsistent and convenient. Like generations before you, you prefer a film that has been tailored exclusively to embody what you like to see in movies rather than someone’s message or some kind of grand idea. Whatever--I like explosions and attractive people too (you don't see a lot of them in independent documentaries). But don’t try to sell me some sob story about Inception being more worthy of the critic’s embrace than twilight + some hipster bullshit about cultural decay. Between conformists and non-conformists, I see this as the worst of both worlds: to complain about what the cultural vacancy of your peer’s preferences, but be unwilling seek any genuine inspiration or individuality outside of basic, Hollywood stimulation.

In my generation's defense, it would be REALLY hard to get... I dunno... The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Jane Eyre, L'Illusioniste, Never Let Me Go (assuming that's what you meant by outside the realm of usual Hollywood crap,) etc. nominated or even well-known amongst teens... But it doesn't mean that no one in this generation watches them. ^^

Meh, I like Hollywood, and members of our generation can read or watch whatever the hell they want as far as I'm concerned. Just don't give me a "this is what's wrong with my generation" superiority diatribe just because someone prefers Twilight over HP or hasn't seen Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. If you want a film that was made for the sake of being purely mindbending (as opposed to making a market impact), though, I recommend "Primer". That movie is beastly, and makes Inception look straightforward.
