I'm not saying that all midgets are disfigured. what I meant was that that particular person has an actual disfigured face. And yes, I do have a legitimate reason for my fear. I don't feel inclined to share that reason because then all of the people who already believe I was being an ass will still not agree with me. the last thing I wanted to do was hurt/insult her.

I have a fear of midgets too. My started when I was a little girl and my father showed me Leprecaun. It's probably not a full blown phobia though.

People get phobias, not everyone has them or has found one that they have, but it is possible to have a fear of anything. It would just be offensive to list this fear and as such no one has made an official word. However, I know if I feel that anything touches the skin on my feet I will kick it with full force without a second thought cause of a nightmare I had when I was child, but as of yet I've not seen an actual phobia word to describe it.

So, you had all that time leading up to your sophomore year to work on handling your problem, and didn't, and that you chose not to is intended to be taken as a factor outside of your control? A person with a phobia kind of owes it to themselves to find strategies to cope with it before entering a situation where it will occur. When that situation is "living on planet Earth", and the target of the phobia is a human being, they owe it to themselves AND to the rest of humanity. A paranoid schizophrenic cannot help being a paranoid schizophrenic, but if they understand they have a problem and decide to do nothing about it, the onus is back on them if they hurt someone emotionally or physically because of their problem. We all have problems. Adults take responsibility for them, or gracefully accept the consequences for not doing so.
