Funnily enough, it's against the law to open someone else's letters. Massive YDI for disrespecting your child's privacy. What kind of parent thinks it's their god-given right to barge into their children's personal affairs? For a kid to have a "private & confidential" letter addressed to them, they would at least be a teenager, and therefore, a parent loses the excuse of "just looking out" for them for their nosiness, though it's still wrong to impinge on the privacy of someone younger than a teenager.
take that
That kid is an ass, even if he is a clever ass. I would have wiped that smirk off his clever face real quick and made him clean up his glitter bomb.
You absolutely deserve it. My mother was like this (still is) and is why I don't have a relationship with her today. As a grown adult she still tries to snoop through my things. I've had to put locks on everything just to keep her out. Also, many boyfriends of hers have dumped her cause they caught her snooping. Snooping is such a disgusting trait, honestly. Remember- Curiosity killed the cat.
I have done the same thing to my mom. Lol.

It's really hard to feel sorry for you here when you opened an envelope that wasn't yours. Especially one that said "private and confidential" as a last chance warning. Totally deserved it.
This is the biggest YDI i have seen in awhile
