Today, while I was at the dentist, I couldn't stop gagging when he tried to put a tab in my mouth to get an x-ray. As I left, I overheard him saying, "I feel sorry for her boyfriend." FML

I hate the dental assistants that do X-Rays. I once had one that after a few gags told me to "stop being so dramatic".

The assistant is doing something wrong if you are gagging when taking x-rays. The holders hurt, there's no way around that, but they shouldn't be anywhere near the back of your throat and making you gag. I have never seen a patient gag while taking their dental x-rays.

I doubt it was the dentist that said it but rather the dental assistant. I hope the OP spoke up. Nothing worse than a great doctor with shitty staff members.

Because the dentist, himself, isn't normally the person that does the X-rays. Just like the hygienist (at my office) is the person that cleans my teeth, not my dentist. My dentist only does the more difficult tasks like reading the X-ray, drilling/fillings, pulling teeth and administering the Novocain. Usually everything else is done by the staff. When the OP said she was at the dentist-- it's not clear who the "he" or "him" is she's talking about? It most likely was the person taking the X-ray. Well, that's how I interpreted the FML

It's ok OP, I gag with those X-ray tabs too, it can't be helped but that was a shitty thing for the dentist to say, he could have at least waited till you were out of ear shot.

Ugh, I know how you feel! Those things are Terriable. I don't gag on them but the sharp edge always leave a cut in my mouth... Or that's just me. ?

That is... Highly unprofessional. Can you report him for misconduct? But you really should've said something, OP. Maybe something like, "Well, I bet your wife loves you, because you're a giant ******* dick!" Regardless, it may be time to find a different dentist.
