Today, while I was out of the office, I'd left my phone charging inside. My boss informed me that since I am clearly running up her electricity bill, it will be deducted out of my already nearly non existent paycheck. FML

Today, I found out that the only reason my "friend" comes over to my apartment is so that she can charge her phone using my electricity, because she's too cheap to use her own. FML

Today, the power went out at work. As everyone left the building to go home, the owner came in to inform me that, since the phones were on a battery back up, I would be staying to man them. The phones rang 2 times in the 4 hours I sat in the dark by myself. Both times were telemarketers. FML

Today, while working at a chain restaurant, I forgot to charge someone a few dollars for extra toppings on the side. My stingy boss took the time to take that money out of my paycheck. FML

Today, I was running late for work. I was trying to find my car keys, then realized I'd left them in my boyfriend's car. My phone charger was locked in my car, and my phone was dead. I couldn’t get hold of my boss and explain what had happened. I’m fired, aren’t I? FML

Today, my coworker told me when we got to work that she purposely left her phone at home. I then had to suffer 8 hours of listening to her constantly whine like a toddler about how much she missed her phone. FML

Today, my boss threatened to fire me if I didn't stop looking at my phone while working. I work in the back room, and there is no clock in there. I look at my phone to check the time. That way I know how long I have left in that hellhole. FML

Today, my boss fired me for "fooling around" on my phone. I was looking for supplies for a surprise party we are throwing him for his birthday, and I didn't want to do it on my work computer because he has access to our history. Also, this happened during my lunch break. FML

Today, I lost my $100 in cash that I had to use to pay my phone bill. As a result, my phone got cut off and I missed an important call for an apartment that I was looking at. When I went to work, I heard my boss saying how lucky she was to find $100 in cash. FML

If this is true then you need to research how many watts a charging phone uses (per/hr). Figure out, approximately how much you DID use. Request a copy of the electricity bill (demand, really). The thing is, if they are going to "bill" you for something, she has to then give you the invoice showing what was taken out, why that amount, etc. It's the same as the office giving you petty cash or reimbursing when you pay for something for the company out of pocket. Ex - if you drive somewhere work related and are given reimbursement, you have to provide an invoice documenting the miles driven).

This is NOT an FML, you totally deserved this. You shouldn't use the work place to charge your phone. Try being responsible and charging your phone at home next time.

Well, to respond to the comments regarding me being irresponsible and not charging my phone before I leave the house....I do in fact charge the phone over night every night. I have an android that has a horrible battery life, and a car that had been having issues. I needed to travel quite a distance during evening after work, therefore I figured I would charge it a bit incase the car acted up again, I would be able to call for assistance. Also, charging it in my car wasnt an option , as my car charger was stolen from my car during the night before. It was an all around messed up day.

First off, yay for an OP actually responding to their FML! Secondly, your boss is a bitch and like a lot of people have said, definitely calculate how much your phone charger uses, and see how much you should actually owe her. Do your research so she can't screw you over. Best of luck to you!
